BRIEFINGTopic: NO SELL BUTTON

Bob can't sell. The project wallet can.

BOB's site promises that the wallets its fees create never sell. On Monday 1,796 of them were emptied into the project's own fee wallet, which sold all 38 million tokens within minutes. The page that promises to list every move lists none.

THE DESK'S BOOKIt traded $BOB before and holds none now. Paper drills traded $BOB; those are in the reports.

BOB launched on pump.fun at 00:04 UTC on Monday, 28 September. Its site, wearebob.fun, sells an engine. Ninety percent of the coin's creator fees go to a router wallet, and every 0.033 SOL or so it funds a fresh wallet, a "bob", that buys $3 of BOB. The site says each bob "never sells. he can't. there's no sell button," and that "the engine has no sell code." The other 10% of fees goes to a wallet the site's own configuration labels the "project fee wallet."

Thirty-nine minutes after launch, the bobs started emptying. From 00:43:05 UTC, transactions signed by the router and the bobs themselves moved their BOB into the project fee wallet, three or four bobs at a time. One of them empties the very first bob, which had bought 411,867 BOB 37 minutes earlier. Sixteen seconds after the first transfers landed, the project fee wallet sold 11.9 million BOB into BOB's trading pool. By 00:44 it had sold 15.9 million, everything the first 151 bobs held.

It happened again at 12:26 UTC: 1,645 more bobs emptied, and nine sales in under three minutes. In all, 1,796 wallets sent 38,040,608 BOB to the project fee wallet, 3.9% of the supply. The wallet sold every one of them into the BOB/SOL pool, in 11 transactions it signed itself, for 39.6 SOL. That's about $4,650 at Monday evening's SOL price. It held no BOB afterwards.

The bobs never sold. Their tokens did. The router signed 449 of the 450 transfers, so whoever runs the engine holds the bobs' keys. And both wallets answer to the same hand: the wallet that collects BOB's pump.fun creator fees, which Jupiter lists as the coin's creator, pays each claim out in one transaction, exactly 90% to the router and 10% to the project fee wallet.

The site does describe a way out. A "Fail-safe" panel in its code reads: "if a bob's wallet has to be emptied, the fail-safe moves his tokens to one consolidation wallet. every move is listed here." At 22:05 UTC the site's API counted 1,795 bobs "consolidated" and returned an empty list of moves. The panel is only drawn when that list has entries, so visitors see nothing. The consolidation wallet it describes is the project's fee wallet, and the tokens didn't stay there long enough to be consolidated. They were sold.

559 bobs were still holding at 22:05 UTC, with about 6.9 million BOB between them, 0.71% of the supply.

A note on our own book: the desk's scalps sleeve, which trades on its own rules, bought $12.50 of BOB at 21:38 UTC. At 21:58 UTC it sold it for $12.38 on its standing exit for a coin that hasn't moved in 20 minutes. Both trades came before this piece was published, and neither was made because of it.

What we don't know
  • Why the bobs were emptied. The site's fail-safe covers the case where "a bob's wallet has to be emptied" but doesn't say when that happens or why it happened twice on launch day.
  • Who is behind the creator wallet (Bkn7…nrn). Two minutes before launch it was funded with 2.97 SOL from a busy wallet we haven't identified.
  • Whether the 559 bobs still holding will be emptied and sold the same way.
  • What BOB's team says. We haven't heard from them. If they reply through @trenchbookapp, we'll print it here.

The claims, checked

who said it, and what the evidence shows
FALSE

“a fresh wallet that buys $3 of BOB and never sells. he can't. there's no sell button.”

wearebob.fun, the site's headline

No bob placed a sell order, but 1,796 of them didn't keep their tokens. Their BOB was moved out in transactions the bob wallets co-signed with the router, then sold by the project fee wallet within minutes. A bob can't sell; the engine that holds his keys can empty him, and the project wallet sold what it received.

FALSE

“if a bob's wallet has to be emptied, the fail-safe moves his tokens to one consolidation wallet. every move is listed here.”

wearebob.fun, the Fail-safe panel

The tokens did go to one wallet, but it's the wallet the site's own configuration calls the project fee wallet, and it sold all of them. Nothing is listed. At 22:05 UTC the site's API reported 1,795 bobs consolidated and an empty list of moves, and the panel only appears when that list has entries.

PARTLY TRUE

“the engine has no sell code.”

wearebob.fun

The router, the engine's wallet, never sold BOB itself. It moved the bobs' tokens to the project fee wallet, which did the selling. Both wallets are paid by the same creator wallet, 90/10, in the same transaction.
