What happened to $WIRED?
$WIRED launched on pump.fun at 4:29 PM ET on 1 October with a pitch stored in its on-chain description: "Creator fees, directed to anyone on X and deposited straight into their bank account." pump.fun showed it with a "Verified coin" badge, which only meant its X and site links checked out at launch.
The creator's wallet bought 20 million tokens at launch for 0.59 SOL and sold all of them at 5:01 PM for 215 SOL. It then collected the creator fees pump.fun pays on every trade, about 390 SOL net, and moved 607 SOL into a staking account at 5:10 PM. Every buyer after 5:01 PM was paying fees to a creator who held no tokens. The coin peaked at about $2.71 million and was worth about $8,000 at 6:42 PM ET on 2 October.
